Michael Volland
God on the Beach Newquay, the surf capital of the UK, was heaving with young clubbers, each one desperate to live life to the full, eager for experience, ready to ride the waves and hit the heights. Into this chaotic carnival dropped Michael Volland: dj, surfer and team member in a beach mission 21st-century style. The events that followed blew the mind of the reluctant evangelist. Michael Volland Bio
Michael Volland was a youth worker for six years, has an MA in Youth Ministry and Applied Theology from King's College, London. Michael moved to Gloucester with his wife, Rachel, in June 2006. They came from London via Ridley Hall in Cambridge, where Michael trained for ordination in the Anglican church.
Shortly after they arrived, Michael was ordained as a pioneer minister and commissioned to grow a fresh expression of church in the city centre. (Michael is also the curate at the cathedral, so there is a continuing link with an ancient place of worship and the community that gather there).
This particular fresh expression, (or being church where people are, in ways people can relate to) won't save the Church of England but it might allow light, life and hope to infiltrate into surprising places... Your ongoing prayers are invited and appreciated.
